Wedding Venue Report: Tuscan Style

So many beautiful Tuscan wedding venues, so little time…

This was a difficult list to compile, but lets admit it, when you get married in Tuscany can you pick a bad wedding venue? We’ve developed a list of our favorite wedding venues in Tuscany based on beauty, staff, and just personal taste! Enjoy!

1. The best venue of all time: Villa la Foce

This world heritage venue in the Val d’Orcia literally has it all!  The gardens are stunning, the rooms are stunning and it has a cute Plan B.  If I had to pick a wedding venue in Tuscany this is the one I’d pick. Venue rental is for 3 days and you get use of the breathtaking gardens for the day of the wedding.  The recently restored main villa sleeps 24.  They also have B&Bs nearby and Montepulciano is only 15 minutes away.  You know that picture of the zigzag cypress trees that Tuscany is known for? Well that’s your view.

2. The runner up and best plan B venue: Villa di Maiano

This venue gets two awards as it is second favorite venue in Tuscany and has so many Plan Bs you won’t care if it it rains on your wedding day. The owners are down to earth, old school Florentines and have painstakingly kept up the villa in it’s original splendor and I how the villa is on three levels.  Guests enter from the olive garden and then ascend to the villa and terrace overlooking Florence.  Did I mention it has a ton of Plan B options as well?  The lemon house is one of my favorite event spaces and is perfect for a ceremony, dinner or even your own personal rave cave as well as its majestic ballroom with a real candle lit chandelier.   It can host about 150 with tenting.  The venue is rented by the night and is so close to Florence your guests can arrive by Taxi.  

3. The best theatrical venue: Villa Medicea di Lilliano

This Tuscan wedding venue is a stone’s throw from Florence but will leave you in awe at every turn of the corner.  The front of the villa faces Florence and can be enjoyed for your ceremony or cocktail hour from their front balcony.  Guests then walk through a stunning frescoed hallway to the back garden which literally opens up to the Tuscan countryside.  For the afterparty or the plan B there is a swanky Lemon house that can host up to 150 people.  The entire venue was restored only a few years ago and in my opinion has some of the nicest rooms in Tuscany for a wedding venue which can sleep up to 28 people. The venue is close to Florence so guests can arrive via cab.

4. The best venue for guests: Borgo di Corsignano

Who doesn’t want to have a Tuscan village all to themselves on their wedding day?  The Borgo is located north of Florence in the Casentino area of Tuscany.  Couples deciding to marry there can have a lovely symbolic ceremony on sight or marry at the picturesque town hall in Poppi for a civil marriage. The venue remodels often making it comfortable and modern while keeping its Tuscan charm.  It can sleep 90 people in the main village and can sleep another 90 at their farm down the road in beautiful and stylish mini apartments.  They have a spa, gym, tennis courts and 3 pools.  Their plan B? They have a grand hall that can fit up to 250 people!  If you have a large family and want everyone around…this is the place.  Definitely a venue to consider. 

5. The most Tuscan venue: Borgo Stomennano

This Tuscan wedding venue has so many amazing qualities it’s hard to list them all. Villa Stomennano has a lovely architectural feature in the middle of the villa and a stunning boulevard of ancient cypress trees. The side of the villa and the olive orchard open up to the Tuscan countryside and the medieval town of Monteriggioni. They have plenty of Plan B options as well. The venue can host up to 150 people. The Borgo has painstakingly preserved the stunning bedrooms for the last 150 years. Anyone would feel like a queen/king sleeping in any of the rooms. If your idea of a grand wedding is to feel like a Tuscan lady/gentleman this is the venue for you.

6.The best venue with a view: Villa Gamberaia

Villa Gamberaia is a UNESCO world heritage side nestled into the side of Florentine hills and has some of the most stunning grounds I’ve ever seen. It has more place for events then I’d like to count, indluding a spectacular bowling green with one of the best views of Florence to enjoy your wedding dinner. The house can sleep up to 100 guests and has a minimum 3 day rental.
